The stakes are different." \n\n \n\nThose stakes are what lie at the heart of David Wax Museum's fourth and boldest\n\nstudio album to date\, Guesthouse (released October 2018 on Thirty Tigers). It's the\n\nsound of a band reconciling the accountability of marriage and parenthood with the\n\nuncertainty and challenges of life on the road\; of coming to terms with the limitations\n\nof the "folk" tag that launched their career and pushing past it into uncharted musical\n\nterritory\; of reimagining their entire approach in the studio to capture the magic and\n\nthe bliss of their live show. In typical David Wax Museum fashion\, the songs on\n\nGuesthouse are simplistic and sophisticated\, elegant and plainspoken all at once. Rather than\n\nsuccumbing to the weight of the newfound responsibilities that landed on their doorstep\, the band has\n\nleaned into the challenges to capture a brilliant portrait of the messy beauty of it all.\n\n \n\nThe roots of David Wax Museum stretch back nearly a decade\, and all the way from\n\nNew England to Mexico. As a student at Harvard\, Wax began traveling south of the\n\nborder to study and immerse himself in the country's traditional music and culture.\n\nBack in Boston\, he met fiddler/singer Suz Slezak\, whose love of traditional American\n\nand Irish folk music fused with Wax's Mexo-Americana into a singular\, energetic blend\n\nthat captivated audiences and critics alike. Their 2010 breakout performance at the\n\nNewport Folk Festival made them the most talked-about band of the weekend\, with\n\nNPR hailing them as "pure\, irresistible joy." They released a trio of albums that earned\n\nescalating raves everywhere from SPIN and Entertainment Weekly (who described\n\nthem as sounding "like Andrew Bird with a Mexican folk bent") to the New York Times\n\nand The Guardian (which dubbed the music "global crossover at its best"). They earned\n\nan invitation to return to Newport\, this time on the main stage\, as well as dates\n\nsupporting The Avett Brothers\, The Carolina Chocolate Drops\, Buena Vista Social Club\,\n\nand more. The band hit the milestone of performing their 1000th show in 2017. \n\n Check out David Wax Museum \n\n\n\n \n\n \n\n\n \n\nSee the 1 minute promo of the event with prior acts\n\n\n\n\nSee the intro and first song by Dana Fuchs (Jan 27\, 2018)\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSeabury Center - 45 Church Lane\n\nIf you have any questions contact the chamber office at 203-227-9234\n\nor email matthew@westportwestonchamber.com
